Reframing Loss

Oct 31, 2025

How comfortable are you with discussing the loss of life? If you’re anything like me, your answer is probably, “Terrifyingly uncomfortable!” But here’s the thing: death is inevitable. In our profession, the longer we practice, the more likely we are to experience loss within our community. We’ll have to navigate conversations around it, so it’s essential to become more comfortable in order to provide the best support and care for our patients.

That’s why, in this week’s episode, I’m bringing back two former guests, Dr. Jen Santos and Dr. Tamara MacIntyre, to dive into this important topic. Dr. Jen and Dr. Tamara have launched a new course designed to help us meet these difficult yet unavoidable situations with compassion and confidence.

In our conversation, we discuss how they became involved in this area, why it’s crucial for medical practitioners—especially chiropractors—to become more skilled and comfortable in these scenarios, specific ways to offer support or speak with someone who is grieving, the importance of upstream education on the topic, and so much more.

Dr. Jen and Dr. Tamara’s new course, Reframing Loss, seeks to help you and your team develop crucial skills to support families through challenging diagnoses and losses with empathy and understanding. Enhance your practice with strategies for grief support, death literacy, self-care, and effective communication. Check it out here.
